Hey guys wanted to take advantage of some time i had when i was driving back and forth to where i like to go hiking in the evening and figured i’d answer a few questions that i get a lot in my comments and just post them to youtube Or twitter, and one of the comments or questions i get all the time is: what books i would recommend for people who are trying to get more understanding about investing or economics or really life in general and the first one that i always recommend is beat the Dealer by ed thorpe, and i recommend that for a lot of different reasons, but first and foremost, because it’s probably one that no one has read. But it’s most likely the most important from the standpoint of it. Teaches you how to think in terms of probabilities and not certainties, and that’s probably the biggest mistake that i see people make. So this is a book on blackjack from a very interesting guy named ed thorpe. In my opinion, one of the smartest americans to ever live so that would be my first suggestion. Suggestion number two: let’s see, if i can remember these, would be jim rogers, so investment biker. I believe it was adventure, capitalists, uh, the next one would be thomas soule and basic economics is one that is a must and in today’s day and age i think it’s very important that you read a book called black rednecks and white liberals, and i know just The title of that book will probably get you in trouble today, but it’s a book from thomas soule who’s, a black economist, so for those of you who are freaking out on the sjw triggered spectrum right now just chill out. I would strongly encourage reading both of those books. Next would be the market wizards and those are a series of books from a guy named jack schwager who sat down and interviewed some of the top traders, hedge fund managers and investors of all time and put his interviews into books and they’re just fantastic. Those are some of the first investment books that i read and what you’ll find interesting about. Those books is a lot of the guys that became incredibly successful in the money management business or investing actually got their start in blackjack, and the last one is one that a lot of people have probably read: that’s the intelligent investor by ben. Graham, it really teaches you to think in terms of value investing. I think if you combine that with jim rogers books, a lot of them have to do with commodities and buying things when they’re, cheap and selling them. When they’re expensive it’ll. Give you a good foundation of how you should think about investing in speculation and a good framework to begin with, so those are the books that i would start with happy reading. I think you can get all of those on on uh, audible or you can get them on audiobook, which is how i prefer to consume them, and you guys start with those – and i think that’ll put you on the path to [ Music ] success.
